Tips for Filming and Structuring Your Testimonial
Watch the video below for expert advice on capturing your story and maximizing your video’s performance on social media.
Filming Tips:
How to create a professional-looking video using just your phone
Keep It Short & Engaging
Your video should be between 20-60 seconds long.
Get straight to the point—keep your story clear and impactful.
Hold Your Phone Correctly
Always hold your phone vertically (portrait mode) for the best format on social media.
Avoid horizontal filming—most platforms favor vertical videos.
Distance & Framing
Hold your phone at arm’s length or use a tripod at eye level.
Frame yourself so your head and shoulders fill most of the screen, leaving a little space above your head.
Find a Quiet Space
Choose a quiet environment—avoid background noise from fans, traffic, or people talking.
If filming outside, stay away from wind that could distort your audio.
Use a Clean, Distraction-Free Background
A simple wall, tidy room, or Higher Landing-branded background works best.
Avoid cluttered or distracting spaces that take focus away from your message.
Get the Best Lighting
Face a window for soft, natural light that brightens your face evenly.
Avoid harsh overhead lighting and never have a window behind you (it will make you look too dark).
Speak Naturally
Relax, speak clearly, and tell your story with confidence.
Engagement Boosters
Tips to make your video stand out and reach more people
Hook them in 5 Seconds or they're gone
People scroll fast. If your video doesn’t grab attention in the first five seconds, they’re gone.
Start strong with:
A bold claim → “I landed my dream job with this one big change.”
A thought-provoking question → “What if everything you knew about job searching was wrong?”
An unexpected reaction → Show emotion, surprise, or excitement.
Less is More – Cut the Fluff
Shorter videos lead to better retention.
If they don’t watch, they won’t share.
Keep your message sharp, clear, and intentional—this isn’t a TED Talk.
Be Human, Not a Talking Head
People connect with people, not just information.
Show your personality—be real, show emotion, and add your personal touch.
Whether it’s humor, passion, or energy, make it feel like a conversation, not a script.
The Power of Influencer Marketing & UGC
Your voice matters! User-Generated Content (UGC) helps inspire others to take action. When real people share real experiences, it builds trust and credibility—making a huge impact on potential career changers.
Major Influencer Marketing Categories:
Brands can work with influencers in two main ways:
Brand Ambassadors: These influencers promote the brand over a long period, making their followers more familiar with and trusting of the brand. It’s like having a spokesperson who continuously supports your product.
Sponsored Content: This is a short-term deal where the influencer is paid to post about the product once or a few times. It’s useful for quickly grabbing attention and boosting visibility.
Brand Partnerships
UGC (User-Generated Content)
Imagine a customer posting a review or video showing how much they love a product. This is called UGC. Brands can also pay everyday creators (not just influencers) to make this type of content because it feels more genuine. People are more likely to trust these "real-life" testimonials than flashy ads. Brands often reuse this content to connect with their audiences more authentically.
